Mustafa el-Dessouki

1 December 1959, Egypt

Has worked with Franck Goddio since 1996.

Previously, Mustafa has worked in his family business, as a leather craftsman and leather goods importer/exporter. In 1977 he joined the Faculty of Artists at the Greco-Roman Department. He spent 9 years at the University because he kept leaving and spending time overseas 2 years in USA, 1 year in Italy, Greece, Spain, Denmark, Germany, France, Jordan Besides his native Arabic, he also speaks English, French, Greek, and Italian.

He joined the Greco-Roman Museum in 1987 and later, the Department of Underwater Archaeology. He is also the specialist in making and repairing wet suits and helped to make the special supports for removing the great statues from the water. His many talents really help the team.

Mustafas favorite discovery is the priest holding the God of Canop, found in Alexandria in the spring of 1999. It is amazing to think of all the people and buildings and boats in the port of Alexandria at the moment of its destruction the huge falling palaces and columns and 2000 years later we can find all the remains.
