Franck Goddio's principles
|
|
In his activities Franck Goddio is always working in partnership with the
governments in which territorial waters his explorations take place. Of
course he is adhering to the legal provisions regulating underwater
excavations. Because the legal regulations are very liberal, he has
developed in addition the following codes:
Franck Goddio has always archaeologists of the involved countries on
board. The found object s(shipwrecks or sunken underwater structures) are
very well documented before the excavation starts. During the excavation
also a thorough documentation takes place (measurements of the site,
positioning of the individual artifacts, documentation of the excavated
artifacts).
In countries which keep all found artifacts, these go to national
institutions or museums. Franck Goddio provides the public with information
through all media. He also recommends that global exhibitions should take
place.
Countries which share the found artifacts receive priority for artifacts
with high historic value. Franck Goddio has the policy that his share of
artifacts is used for travelling exhibitions and eventually stays
permanently in a museum of an interested country. He expects that interested
parties like corporations, institutions or individuals get involved in
sponsoring such temporary or permanent exhibtions.
