Stephane Brousse
14 August 1968, France
Has worked with Franck Goddio since 1998.
He has a degree in archaeology from the Sorbonne, Paris. He started diving when he was sixteen. He has worked on numerous underwater excavations, some of which were the following: Excavations in rivers and lakes in France, working on villages from both the Bronze Age (900 BC) and the Neolithic Period (4000–2000 BC). Surveyed shipwrecks along the Riviera and excavated one wreck from the 7th century and a roman wreck from the 2nd century.
He loves diving archaeology for the pleasure of discovering things. His favorite personal discovery was the gold ring he found in Alexandria in 1998. It is superb gold work with a stone of chalcedony inlaid with a crested bird. He really enjoys cleaning the concretion that grows on the underwater statues. As he proceeds, the beauty and detail of the sculptures emerge… after two millenniums, and more!
Besides underwater archaeology, he also loves kayaking, hunting mushrooms, reading good books, spear-fishing, traveling, and good films.
